Resources for Autism is establishing a partnership with Essex University to undertake some research. Broadly, the focus of the research is about charging for services, and what service users, families and the general public feel about that. Where RfA is funded to deliver services, this will continue at no or low cost. Demand for their services however also comes from other areas where they don’t receive funding and this research aims to explore the public’s perception on charities charging for services.
The researchers would like to have an in-person focus group conversation at the Barnet Autism Hub on Thursday 2nd July between 12:30 to 1:30pm. Lunch will be provided to those attending so please when you book, please let us know if you have any access or dietary requirements. Parent/Carers are able to bring their children along, and if they can only attend for part of the session their contributions will still be appreciated. Remuneration for your time is also available.
If you are interested in contributing to the research, even if you cannot attend on the day, please fill in this brief form to express your interest.
Please see more details from the researchers below:
This research is being led by Dr Misagh Tasavori and Dr Kholoud Mohsen from the University of Essex. The research aims to deliver a nuanced understanding of how charities can successfully transition from grant dependency to sustainable income models, given the current economic difficulties experienced at various levels of society. By exploring challenges, success factors, and public perceptions, this research will provide invaluable insights that can guide charities in their strategic planning and operational adjustments.
You will not be asked to provide your name but you will be asked to provide some demographic information for analysis purposes. Data collected through this focus group will be aggregated and you will not be individually identifiable in any reports or publications from this research. All information collected will be kept securely and will only be accessible by the researchers.
If you have any concerns about any aspect of the study, please contact the principal investigators of the project using the contact details below.
